The City of Helena Parks and Recreation Department is committed to the creating and maintaining safe and enjoyable parks and recreation areas for the present and future needs of our residents.

We have a Helena mailing address, but live OUTSIDE Helena City limits, can my children play in Helena sports leagues?
Maybe. The rule--which was installed in 2005--states that you must be a Helena property-tax paying resident in order for your children to participate in Helena sports. However, if your children were already participating in one of our leagues, they are grandfathered in and may continue to play.

What types of sports leagues does Helena offer?
Football, Soccer, Cheerleading, Baseball, Softball and Basketball. Check the city website periodically for registration information. Or, call 621-9904.

Why do I have to pay a registration fee and then another fee at the gate?
Some sports (football & tournament ball) require additional fees in order to operate their league. For example, money collected at the football and baseball gates pays for umpires and referees.

I've signed my children up for some leagues, will the City of Helena provide uniforms and equipment?
Maybe, it depends on which activity your children are involved in.

Where does the money go that I pay for food/drinks at the Concession Stand?
The money helps maintain and operate the concession stand. Any profit made helps pay for the utilities (electricity & water) at the parks.

Can I volunteer/be employed at the Concession Stand?
Absolutely! Contact the Parks Office at 621-9904 for more information.

I used to play high school/college ball, can I be a volunteer coach?
Absolutely! Please call the Parks Office at 621-9904 for more information.

How do I reserve a pavillion at Joe Tucker Park?
Pavillions at Joe Tucker Park are NOT reserved. Availability and use are on a FIRST-COME-FIRST SERVED basis.

How do I reserve a pavillion at Cahaba Lily Park?
Unfortunately, they are unavailable for reservation because it was constructed with combined County and City funds. Pavillions/tables are on a "FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED" basis.

Who do I contact if I've noticed a problem at a park?
If it is a Safety/Sanitation issue, contact the Parks Office at 621-9904. If it is something suspicious, contact Helena PD at 663-6499. If it is of an emergency nature, contact 911.

What are the names and locations of all the parks in Helena?
Click on the 'Park' menu at the top to be taken to our parks page listing all our parks, information about the parks and directions to each of the parks.
